Hi everyone,

My family is looking to migrate to Canada but need some clarification on the FSWP and PNP.

Can I apply for the FSWP or PNP (preferably Alberta) WITHOUT JOB OFFER? We are both teachers at Secondary and College levels from the UK. We have Post-graduate qualifications and I have 15 years of teaching experience. We are in our mid -late 30s.

My family have sufficient money to cover the funds requirement.

Can we still apply for either programs WITHOUT JOB OFFER?

Thanks

You definitely don't qualify to apply for FSW without a job offer. Teachers are not on the list of occupations where you can apply without a job offer. So to qualify to apply, you would have to obtain a job offer first.

It's more difficult to say for PNP since each program has unique requirements. However I suspect that you would need a job offer for PNP as well since teaching is not a desired occupation (meaning that there is no shortage of teachers in Canada and more qualified candidates available than there are jobs).

Thanks Scylla for your prompt response.

So, you must have a job offer for the FSWP EVEN IF YOU SCORE OVER 67? If I have a job offer for a job outside my profession on APNP, would that be ok?

Also, when do you need the job offer, before you make your initial application?

Thank you!

I can't comment on the Alberta program. Hopefully someone else will be able to help. However if the job offer is outside of your profession I believe you need a least one year of experience in that profession (i.e. the profession of the job offer).

And yes - for FSW, you still need a job offer even if you have 67 points. To be able to apply without a job offer you would need 67 points AND your occupation would also have to appear on this list of desired occupations:

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/complete-applications.asp?wbdisable=true

You must secure the job offer before you apply. Without a job offer you're looking at an automatic refusal from FSW.

Thank you! Sounds way more complicated than I initially thought.

Hi Nads

No to both options. You need a job offer. As far as I'm aware elementary and secondary teaching are not eligible to apply via AINP aswell.

If you and your partner plan to come to Canada and teach then I'd also recommend some further reading on getting qualified to teach and teaching in general in Canada. I'm sorry to bear bad news if this was a plan but the chances of getting a teaching job here are almost zero. It's not impossible but a long and frustrating road. Your 15 years experience would mean nothing :(
