I am travelling as much as I can get time off or I can work from home in Canada. But they already said they cannot accommodate my case and my time off if the rule is going to be implemented some time in November or later. In that case I can come to Canada only on weekends. I have also filed the tax. But the wait is killing me and my energy is running out!

I think citizenship matters a lot to me. I have been in Canada for 8 years and don't want to lose it!
Do you think post-doc can help as a tie or as a job to be mentioned in the forms for me?

Having a job title in Canada definitely helps. There is a question on the citizenship application form asking for occupation since PR (as raised by @vancouverbc2013)

Also the hero member @Natan got citizenship while working in USA. Please find his advice at http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/threads/work-in-usa-travel-back-to-canada-at-weekends-residence-time-calculation.451557/#post-5448936

Basically, a very strong Canadian tie needs to be well-justified to balance against the fact of working in USA (which indicates potential permanent stay in USA)

I can also register as a post doc in Canada. Does that help as a tie to Canada?
