Pleas help- failed refugee claimant with expired Indian passport

Hi guys,

My refugee status was denied in 2022 and my Indian passport is also expired. I have an emergency back home and want to go back to india. I heard that Indian embassy would not renew my passport as I have previously applied for refugee claim. Can someone help me if someone is in same scenario? Or guide me through the steps I should follow.

Get an EC: https://www.cgitoronto.gov.in/page/emergency-certificate2/

That wont change your situation that you need EC to travel back to India. Just follow the link and apply..

And why would they don't renew your passport as long as you didn't get any other citizenship?

And why would they don't renew your passport as long as you didn't get any other citizenship?

OP doesn't have valid status in Canada and therefore cannot renew the passport.

Thanks for the info. I know someone who recently got a letter from CBSA directing to renew passport along with the old expired passport copies.

Is this normal scenario?
