Hi Seniors,

I am from India.
My place of birth in birth certificate is town name but in passport it is taluk name, State name .
Birth certificate also has 1 line that mentions that town belongs to that taluk.
So, technically both should be same.
Do I need to provide any explanation for this?
In general application which one I need to mention as place of birth?
As in birth certificate or in passport?
Please help !!!

best wd have been if you ammended your passport to read exactly like your birth certificate.
Where are you based out of?

Currently I am in USA.
I think already it is late for me as my job duties come under NOC 2174, which is reaching cap quickly.
Any idea about how long will it take if I apply for place of birth correction in my passport from chicago?
Is it sufficient to just provide my birth certificate to correct my place of birth in passport or do I need to provide any court order?
I have read in some forum that court order is not required.

use your 10th certificate if that is same as passport.
. Thanks. My 10th certificate has DOB as in passport and it has father's name too. But no place of birth. Do I need to attach any other supporting document or explanation letter if I am submitting my 10th school leaving certificate instead of birth certificate?

You are fine with the Birth certificate, since it has a line that provides the taluk name. Mention this in your cover letter as well.
