So we're in Pittsburgh, PA. So far we went to Walgreens, CVS, Rite Aid, AAA, Walmart, and every employee tells me the same thing, "We're sorry, we only do Passport photos"

And I say, oh, but it's the same idea, it's just a matter of cutting it smaller.

"Sorry, we only do Passport photos"

These people are braindead. I used to work in a photolab and I took headshots so I know how it works. I had all sorts of people come in asking for all sorts of different sizes.

I wish I could borrow their white backdrop, take my husband's photo myself and cut it myself.

Unfortunately, these people are suffering severely from zombie syndrome - they only know how to follow orders and repeat tasks brainlessly. Braindead, obedient, thoughtless. Doorknobs for brains. They cannot think for themselves; devoid of creative thought and critical thinking.

Whatever I'll figure it out myself.

Call these guys: http://berniesphoto.com/store-services-overview.html

Or someone from a private photo place. If they know cameras, and how to take passport photos, and aren't a big box store, they'll be able to do it for you.

I've had Walmart and a few other places mess up the most simple passport photos in the past. It's quite ridiculous.

hahahhaahahhaahahha they said no and told me the Fedex on Grant St. does 'em. Called that Fedex and their system's down. :P :D :)

they're stupid as hell

I'm gonna have to walk into CVS or some place and teach the person how to do it.

Two things:

1. It's not just a smaller photo. The specifications of the image are also slightly different:

PR:
Measure between 25 mm and 30 mm (1” and 1 1/5”) from chin to crown.
Have a 35 mm x 45 mm (1 3/8” x 1 3/4”) finished size.

Passport:
50 mm wide X 70 mm high (2 inches wide X 2- 3/4 inches long) and sized so the height of the face measures between 31 mm (1- 1/4 inches) and 36 mm (1- 7/16 inches) from chin to crown of head (natural top of head).

2. You do live in Pittsburgh! LOL!

Good luck!

The head and photo size are smaller. The photographer simply needs to take a step or two back in order to get the head smaller. Then cut it. It's no big deal. If no one is willing to comply I will have to do it myself.

Weird, we walked into a Walgreens in Oakland at like 7 at night and they did it for us.

Keep trying private photo places, I can't imagine a private photo place turning you down, they just have to adjust it on the computer.

Yeah. Can't believe this is the hardest part of the application for me. Getting a police check, a medical exam, collecting proof of relationship. Everything else was 10 times easier.

Anyway I just needed to vent. Thanks guys!

I had my pictures done at Walgreens and all they did was use the "british" passport photo option in their system and it worked just fine. I don't know if that's something you might try or bring up! Good luck!

Try and go to a local photography studio, that's what I did and they were able to take the photos. I am in the Virginia Area.

I didn't want to pay an arm and a leg at a professional studio so I went to Rite-Aid again. I didn't ask for a permanent resident photo, I asked for a headshot. Then I taught her how to take the photo so that it'd print with the correct crown to chin measurement, and I told her not to cut it. Purchased a paper trimmer and cut it at home.

I probably sound like an asshole

and that's cause I am acting like an asshole.

CIC recently published an Operational Bulletin regarding PR photos:
