Hi shai,
just like you, i'm a 2nd courser also. i dont have much experience, volunteer nurse lang at trainings ang nakalagay kong experience sa documents na pinadala ko for assessment. in my opinion, relevant yung work experience. if eventually magse SEC ka tulad ko, makakatulong sa iyo ng malaki sa pagsagot ng mga questions sa exam. maari din kasing ibang nursing area yung ipa exam for example kung marami kang experience sa med-surg, baka sa psychology area ka naman ipa-SEC. minsan depende rin yata sa evaluator e. i hope my answer helps. :)

Hi shai and cp3isaIII,

nurse din po ako planning to send my application once magopen po this coming july2012. Naguguluhan lng po kasi ako may nabasa ako n recommended dw na magpa-assess ng credentials before magpass ng app under FSW ngaun july. kelangan k n po b pa-assess un credentials ko? how likely po n maging reqt un credential assessment this july. any suggestions po.. thank you :)

in my opinion, it's not likely n maging reqt un credential assessment when you apply for fsw this july. i think nirerecommend lang na agahan mo pagsubmit mo ng documents mo for assessment sa SRNA (kung sa sask mo balak magpa-assess) kasi medyo matagal din silang mag-assess ng documents. i submitted mine on nov 2010, natapos yung assessment nila sa documents ko last jan2012 lang. it was ok for me kasi medyo mabagal din yung processing ng application ko sa fsw dahil MI-1 ako. separate entity kasi yung SRNA at yung application for FSW. it's your choice to have your documents assessed sa SRNA way ahead of your application sa FSW. i-ready mo lang lahat ng documents mo for july at agahan mo pag submit ng application para sure na makapasok ka sa yearly quota ng nurses. remember na worldwide yung quota na 500. :) :) :)

Eto yong exact line na response ng SRNA:

"After reviewing all documentation submitted related to your registered nursing education in the Philippines, experience and practice, the SRNA has determined there is insufficient evidence to ascertain if your competence to practice is substantially equivalent to the competencies required of an entry level RN in SK.

Therefore, it is necessary that a further assessment be done to determine substantially equivalent competency in the field of general (medical/surgical). An IEN (International Educated Nurses) Assessment centre has been established at SIAST, Wascana, in Regina, SK."

hi,
makikisali lang po sa conversation nyo, galing kami ng toronto and we stayed there for 2 yrs, oks naman ang toronto, wala kaming relatives nung dumating dito at wala ring kakilala and according sa research namin mas madaling kumuha ng mga relatives dito sa saskatchewan kaya we decided to moved here in saskatoon tutal wala naman kaming relatives sa toronto...so far we are enjoying here, mas mura ang mga bahay compared sa toronto...maganda ang place kasi maliit lang, beyond reach lahat ng government agencies...isang tip lang, pag dumating kayo at maghahanap ng place to stay, please stay on the east side, mura ang mga houses at apts sa west pero hindi kasing safe ng east, lalo na kung may mga kids kayo at maiiwan sa bahay or uuwi kayo ng work ng gabi...we've been here in saskatoon since July 2011, hindi namin naging problem ang jobs so far...good luck sa lahat ng padating pa lang...please feel free to ask questions, kung alam ko sagot, I will try my best :D

hello larxace,

maganda itong info mo, we are considering sk nga dahil sa pagkuha ng relatives. un nga lang wala kmi kakilala jan sa sk, unlike sa calgary may kaibigan ako dun na tutulong pagdating dun. musta naman ung work na inline sa engineering jobs jan? and ung university na pwede pasukan for upgarding purpose. sabi nila farm daw jan sa sk unlike sa alberta na oil naman doon. madami ba work jan as long dika mapili? sabi kc ng kaibigan ko sa calgary as in madami daw work doon basta dika mapili, walking distance pa nga daw nya ung work nya dati.

if gods permit na magkavisa kmi, can u lend a hand in looking for a place to stay? kahit temp lang? anyways matagal pa naman siguro kc waiting pa kmi ng MR till now.

thnx in advance

Hi gerlalo,
marami ditong new comer agencies at may mga pinoy din na tutulong sa inyo...not so sure sa engineering jobs kasi di naman yun ang line of work namin ni hubby, IT sya at office manager ako sa isang real estate (di ako sales, taga process lang ng paperwork ng agents), pero maraming work kung di ka mapili, they really need skilled people, minsan nga may mga nakakausap lang akong tao hindi naman ako naghahanap ng work pero inooferan ako na mag work sa company nila, one time I got interviewed kahit wala akong resume na dala and hindi na hiningi...ganun sila ka desperate to look for people sa job...in terms of university, maganda rin sa saskatoon kasi meron dito at malapit lang...no problem naman sa place to stay, marami dito, wi can always help you to look for a place, we are in a very nice area, just behind the mall tapos malapit sa bus stop, malapit sa school at church and grocery, walking distance lang lahat at safe na neighbourhood...
By the way, mas maganda rin kung makakakuha ka agad ng driver's license so make sure na kumuha ka na sa pinas kung wala ka pang driver's license, kung meron na make sure na ma renew mo ito bago kayo umalis papunta dito...sige good luck...hope to see you soon :)

ganyan din kami nag umpisa, just me, my hubby and 2 kids, good thing may nakapagsabi sa amin to go on the east side kasi muntik na kami mapunta sa magulong area dahil mura yung rental, may 13 yrs old pa naman ako na babae...one more thing, kung may driver's license kayo sa pinas make sure na na renew nyo yun para mas madali kayong maka kuha ng license dito, its a necessity rin kasi na may sasakyan though we survived a year na walang car at first kasi super mahal ng insurance sa toronto and requirement yun at least dito sa saskatoon, mura lang ang insurance...just pm me anytime, i'll help you find a place to stay...pag dumating na PPR nyo mabilis na lang yun...sige goodluck ulit...
