Pick up PR card in person- PR card expired

Hello all,
I applied for renewal PR card back in 09/2012, and leave Canada after that, now I got message that I have to pick-up my card. My question is:
1] Can I pick up my card from USA's Canadian embassy closest to me?
2] I meet residency requirement -OR should I just cross border by road with my expired PR card?
Please... I need your help and soon. All replies are appreciated.

1) No - you need to pick the card up from the office in Canada.
2) You don't say where you are originally from (what passport you hold). Assuming you are American, then you should have no issues entering Canada to pick up your renewed PR card.

I am not USA citizen, but thanks for advice. I do have Green Card from USA.
