During my five-year period, I made numerous day trips to Canada before I got my PR, sometimes every single day for a long span. Instead of listing them out such as...

1/1/2017 - 1/1/2017
1/2/2017 - 1/2/2017
1/3/2017 - 1/3/2017
1/5/2017 - 1/5/2017

...can I list them as...

1/1/2017 - 1/3/2017
1/5/2017 - 1/5/2017

Or would that make things more complicated if a reviewer is going against entry/exit logs between the US and Canada?

1/1/2017 - 1/3/2/2017 implies you arrived in Canada on 1/1/2017 and left on 1/3/2017.
I would suggest listing them individually.

FWIW 1/3/2017 can be interpreted as Jan 3 or Mar 1. Make sure you can't be misinterpreted.

IMO, for the periods of continuous visits you can list them like this :

1/1/2017 - 1/3/2017
1/5/2017 - 1/5/2017

You might want to add a letter of explanation and explain what you've mentioned in the physical presence calculator.
