Physical Presence Calculator Question

To preface, I've been a resident since 1997 - I am *finally* applying for Citizenship!!

In completing the application, I am reviewing the physical presence calculator, and have a question:

In recording the absences from Canada, I have a departure that began before the eligibility period and ended inside the eligibility period. I have 1298 days of physical presence. Do I enter the departure date as the first day of the eligibility period (and not include those extra days before (outside of) the eligibility period) ? I prepared the calculator with the full timeline I was out of Canada, and got an error stating that I am including dates before the period in question, and that is why I ask.

Just want to be truthful on application, so not sure how best to complete this task.

Thank you.

Just list the first day of your 5 year eligibility period. I don't think the filed is called 'Departure Date', it's just 'From' and 'To' dates of physical absence from Canada within the the 5 year eligibility period. Anyone please correct me if I am wrong.

It actually says 'Date of Departure from Canada', this is why I asked......

OK, interesting. My final PDF generated using the online Physical Presence calculator only has the fields 'From' and 'To'. Not exactly sure whether anything changed.
