Hi again,

I hear it's better to print copies of photos on paper than to send the actual. I'm trying to make 2 -4 photos on paper. How do I make photocopies on paper and what kind of paper? Can I get it done at a store like Walmart etc? Or is it ok just to make copies on regular printer paper.

We put them in Word, a few pictures per page, along with a caption or explanation. Then we printed them on regular paper.

Thank you!

Did you do b/w or colour?

It makes no difference to CIC how you print them. If you order actual photos or print just the pictures, you can label the back.

If you want to caption the pictures, you will have to use some sort of software, like Word. You can print this yourself, or send them to Staples. Staples allows you to send them documents for printing.

Assuming you are on Windows OS, you can just use the system dialog to print multiple photos as well, by shift or ctrl clicking the pictures, then right click > print and pick the layout you want.

Regular white paper is fine, or you can splurge and buy photo paper from any place with stationary like Walmart or Staples. The pictures can be in black and white or colour, but I don't see the point of printing in black and white.

Not sure if this helps, but we printed off the pictures as normal photos, then wrote (by hand) an explanation of why the photo is significant, who is in the photo, the date it was taken and a serial (eg. 9-1, 9-2) corresponding to the relevant parts of our relationship timeline.

For example, we wrote in the PA form 'We met on xx/xx/xxxx when we were invited by a mutual friend to participate in a television commercial. (SEE 9-1, 9-2, 9-3)' Then, on the picture we wrote: '9-1 This is the first time we met. From left to right, the people in the picture are A (our mutual friend), B (sponsor), C (PA). xx/xx/xxxx.'

I'm not sure if it's feasible in your case, but you can also select your photos to indicate a time-lapse. For example, when we first met, my wife hadn't gotten braces yet. After we got together, she did, then by the time of our wedding she had them taken off (~5 year time period). This change is roughly indicated in the photos chosen (along with others... we also put on some weight...).

Then again, we're still in 'waiting mode' right now, so I can't guarantee the effectiveness of this approach...!

I think these are both great ideas, and probably exactly what they are looking for, very specific in identifying the situation of each photo! I just wrote on the back of the original photos that I sent, stating the date, location and the family members in each photo.
