I feel so DUMB! Ugh! Reading here has helped me figure out all of the stuff we've done WRONG with my PR app. Hopefully, nothing bad enough to derail the processing.

I see now I should have done my medical and police certificate before applying and sent those with the original app. I'm going to get those done as soon as possible and send to Vegreville (and hope nothing gets misplaced, UGH!!!).

Now, I've read about passport-type photographs. Questions:

  • How many do I need, total?
Where can I get them done?
At what point do I need to send them in?
Is not having them yet likely to delay processing of my application? (I got AOR Jan 28, and we're waiting for Quebec's MICC to send CSQ to CIC)

Thanks so much!

Well the good news is that you got AOR which means that CIC did not send back your application for being incomplete. So you are one step ahead.
My doctor told me that the pictures I used for the medical exam and the ones sent with the application must match. Get enough for both... (this number can change so I won't even guess.) Ask your doctor how many they require before you go to the exam. Get that exam started and sent in.
But your first priority is getting the police certificate that takes longer, for the US around 6 weeks. Make sure that anything you mail in has your application and UCI number so it doesn't get lost.

Not having sent this in may slow you down, but at least they didn't send the application back to you, so you are one step ahead.
Now get going!!! :)

  • How many do I need, total? Ask to have 12 in total. (8 for the apps and 4 for the meds) Just order them according to specs in your Guide
Where can I get them done? Most likely you are in Canada or the States. Sorry I cannot tell you where as I live in Europe
At what point do I need to send them in? When you send them type your UCI number that you got upon AOR. This is your ID for your case
Is not having them yet likely to delay processing of my application? (I got AOR Jan 28, and we're waiting for Quebec's MICC to send CSQ to CIC)

I thought if you were applying inland that you didnt have to do the medicals until requested to do so by vegreville? double check that ok, just so you dont do it too early and then have to re-do them again!

As for the police certs, send them along asap!

Thanks anticipation, messenger, and Gary_87!!! I have the FBI request form ready to go out in Monday's mail, and I'll see if a doc in Montreal can get me in. If not, I'll just have to drive down to Quebec some other time.

I'm worried about compromising my app with these oversights, but as they haven't rejected it yet, I'm hopeful that it will be okay. I swear, I'm normally a relatively intelligent person. Why does merely LOOKING at the CIC website seem to shave 40 or 50 points off my IQ immediately?!?

You don't want to do the medicals too early like I did, but now is a good time for QuebecOkie, the medicals last a year and I don't think you want to wait for CIC to ask for them, because they probably won't ask until after first stage approval (AIP) and that can delay your second stage approval for months trust me.

QuebecOkie, I really don't believe this will effect approval of your application. Truly don't worry. This is an anxiety ridden experience, but this is not something to worry about.

When I got the photos for my medical exam, all I got were the ones that I needed for that...
Am I going to be in trouble now?
No one told us anything about the photos having to match.

Likewise for us. There was no documentation that stated that they have to match.

So, the ones for the medical were done at a later time.

If you think about it logically, if you have to redo the medical for any reason, they can't match the ones you had done originally if they were done by a photography shop and you don't have original negatives, which is normally the case.

I think this is what we call in the UK, a "Red Herring". So, I wouldn't worry.

Z.

Thanks AGAIN, anticipation! I'll feel better once I get this stuff in. The medical is going to be a pain, since there are no docs within two hours of me, but I'm hoping we can find someone who can see me in Montreal. Fingers crossed, and again, I REALLY appreciate the feedback!

lalune117, I'm obviously clueless, but I've read on the forum of others having photos done in two separate batches so I think it's fine.
