Hi l am wondering if anyone here has experience taking the Substantially equivalent competency (SEC) assessment for general nursing in Langley BC, my daughter has received her assessment from CARNA and says she can take the SEC assessment or skip this step and go for a Bridging course at Mount Royal University in Calgary instead, this would require her moving there and cost a lot as well.

If anyone here has any knowledge of how difficult this assessment is what kind of upgrading they will recommend, any kind of study that should be done first please help with advice, thank you

The SEC for CARNA is now under CRNBC, once you get a SEC assessment notice from CARNA and send them the signed formed they will then forward it to CRNBC, and from there CRNBC will email you saying they have a referral for you take take the SEC, it only takes a few days for this process after which, once you are ready to schedule for your SEC, just email CRNBC regarding the availability of the dates you want to take up SEC. I spoke to one of those who has undergone LPN assessment and she mentioned that she has taken SEC as well for her LPN.
Hi spongebob 18
I am IEN from India, I did not work as a nurse in the past ten year, I am thinking to apply for a NNAS for both RN and LPN. personally for RN, I don't think that they will accept it, as I mention there is too much gap now. So for LPN, what do you think is it possible, clpnbc allow me to register as a LPN. I am working as a Medical office Assistant right now and I also have done nursing unit clerk program in Canada, do I required to write down a English test as well. your advise is highly appreciated. Also please shed some light, if you know that how the clpnbc evaluate your credential as a IEN. Thanks

Hi,
You can try and apply for both but nnas will only assess whether or not your education is comparable or not to the canadian rn/lpn education system. CRNBC will still have the last say if you can pursue your registration for either lpn or rn. 10yr gap is quite a long shot but do check the crnbc website on their requirements for iens. I am under CARNA by the way so not so familiar with CRNBC rules. Although if your really want to go back to nursing either lpn or rn, another suggestion would be to just study again, either lpn first then you can bridge to rn. Honestly, it will save u tons of time and prolly will make it easier for you to transition to being an lpn/rn again. And yes IELTS/CELBAN is a requirement for nnas and crnbc application.

HI.May I ask if what is your status when you arrive here in Ontario? coz' I'm also here in Ontario, almost 2yrs now as a live in caregiver, and as far as I know HCA is almost equivalent to Personal Support Worker (PSW).
I am also planning to apply for HCA/PSW if ever I receive my OWP on Jan. or Feb of 2016..(I'm also a reg nurse from Phil)

Would just like to know. Ano magandang nursing school sa ontario? Pano mag pa assess? How much kaya magagastos to study ulit? Thank You!

Hello,

anyone knows po yung processing and requirement for IEN - Graduate Nurse (CRNM) applying to write NCLEX-RN? kailangan pa po ba pa-assess sa NNAS?

Thanks

Hello,

mag sstart palang ako ng assessment ko sa NNAS. Papaano ba nila vniverify and docs? tingin nyo tinatawgan nila isa isa ang schools and hospitals since sila ang nag aassess sa lahat ng applicants sa Canada?

Hi Teejamv,
Welcome to Canada!
Ganon talaga eh. No choice than to get those requirements bago makapasok sa health care.
Baka may Skills Connect dyan sa VI, they can help you sa registration sa NNAS, English exam. I got funds from them, but I live here in Vancouver.
Good luck!

Hello :) I just have a question about your experience with NNAS, tinawagan ba nila ang school mo? or yung hospital kung saan ka nag work? Thank you.

Hi Anjo05,

Sa douglas college ako nag enroll for the HCA introduction to practice in BC, 500$ yung tuition but may mura ng konti yata sa St Elizabeth. 3mos yung coverage ng tuition. At your own pace naman yung course. I finished the course 1-2weeks lang kasi may work but if wala im sure matatapos ng sino man in 1 week. Next week nga kukuha na ako ng exam. Hopefully maipasa ko. Meron n pa lang NCAS ngayon for HCA under the BC Care aide Registry?
