I have tried to add my RA and TA experience into the EE profile, but applicant must confirm if the experiences are obtained during full-time study. After finishing the EE profile (my work experience just includes RA and TA), the results showed I am ineligible for the application. I believe most of Phd students just have the RA and TA work experience. So the current EE application means very low chance for phd applicants

Well, that's stupid then. CIC thinks people can only do one thing at a time: work full time or study full time. Especially for a post-graduate level education, it does not make sense to not count the work experience obtained while studying for higher degrees!

yes EE seems to be hard for PhD students. What I can say that there is still somehting we don't know, as it is impossible not to have special thing for PhD students. I think CIC will clarify these things later. It seems that the EE wizered has been done for those people who apply as skilled workers not for us.

This is my concern, if you are a PhD student how would you have work experiance in Canada. We came here on student visa. If they don't give PhD students special cap/category definetly no one will be able to get it. Lets wait and see. I am thinking to contact CIC to see what they say, it looks very stupid program, it seems that PhD stream is not available anymore

So my question: As they just concider the completed degree, what I will benefit as PhD student? They used to have PhD stream, and they say it is under EE now. If there is no benefit from being a PhD studnet under EE it means they technically remove the PhD stream from the immigration options. Any comments/suggestions? Thanks

You will be mostly placed with any other economic migration applicants. There will be no special treatment or direct benefits, but as a PhD student in a Canadian university, most likely you will have better language skills than most applicants from outside Canada, and we all know that high language scores will give you a lot of additional points (within the language section and the transferable skills section as well).

Also, the full-time study requirement applies only for CEC. PhD students with paid RA/TA experience can still apply, provided they provide appropriate letters of references and have at least continuous 1,560 hours within the last 10 years. PhD students, with paid TA/RA experience can easily get this many number of hours after more than two years in the program. This experience will count as an experience in Canada, so combined with high IELTS scores (CLB level 9 or 10), a PhD student can easily score in the high 400s or low 500s, which will make them highly competitive within the EE pool.

Thanks for your info. But the question is you will become "ineligible" if the you show the RA/TA experience when you are full-time phd student. I already tried to create my EE profile with RA and TA experience, but the result showed i am ineligible for EE app.

I have not tried to create an EE profile, but can you tell us whether you had the option to choose whether to apply under FSW or CEC? FSW should not have any restrictions on whether the work experience is obtained during full time study.

No, you can't choose which program you are applying for. The system figures it out for you once you put all your information in. You will be eligible to be in the pool if you can qualify under at least one of the streams otherwise you are found ineligible to be in the pool.

So what about abroad experiance, I have 3 years of experiance, one full year exactly in my field of study, will this considered?

I obtained my PhD degree and I am a Postsdoc fellow right now (Since November). I also created a EE profile and ended up being ineligible as I only had TA/RA experience. I also applied for PNP certificate in Dec. which makes me think it's going to be useless anyway! As long as they dont count my TA/RA, I still will be ineligible.
