Dear everyone,
I have a question regarding CRS (Comprehensive Ranking System), Section C of Skill transferrability factors: Education.
Here is my basic information:
ECA (from WES) shows the following:
Canadian Equivalency Summary: Earned doctorate (PhD)
Credential Analysis
1. Masters's degree
2. Earned doctorate (PhD)
IELTS: maxed points (for CIC purposes)
In creating my EE profile, I entered only my PhD degree under the education background section.
For CRS, my total score was 474 (ITA received 27 Nov). Out of the 474, I list below the points related to my education:
a. 150 were awarded under Section A (Core/human capital factors) for my Earned Doctorate
b. 50 points were awarded under Section C (Skill transferrability factors): Education
I have no question about a. However, I have doubts about b, even though the scores were automatically awarded to me. The reason is as follows:
According to CIC's breakdown of CRS scores, one needs to satisfy 2 conditions in order to receive 50 points for Section C (Skill transferrability factors): Education:
Condition i. Two or more post-secondary program credentials AND at least one of these credentials was issued on completion of a post-secondary program of three years or longer
Condition ii. Points for CLB 9 or more on all four first official language abilities
Obviously, I satisfy Condition ii unequivocally. However, CIC considers me to have satisfied Condition i as well – and this is where my doubt lies: I claimed only 1 degree (Earned Doctorate), and yet Condition i stipulates '2 or more postsecondary credentials'.
Questions (related to CRS Section C Skill tranferrability factors: Education)
#1. Pertaining to my last paragraph, is it because in CIC's judgment, as long as the ECA report overall summary shows Earned Doctorate (or a Masters degree), then s/he is automatically considered to have satisfied Condition i (Two or more post-secondary program credentials...), without having to supply ECA proof of a 2nd post-secondary credential?
If the answer to Question #1 is yes, then I have nothing to worry about.
#2. However, if the answer to the above is no, and if CIC demands a doctorate holder to still produce proof for a 2nd post-secondary credential when assessing his/her ePR application, will my ECA suffice, since it does list 2 degrees (despite the fact that the overall Equivalency Summary indicates only 1 degree)? And relatedly then, would it be necessary for me to add a Master's degree line to my ePR application?
I hope I am not overthinking this, but a prior post in this forum was on this as well (@Bhullar28), though there were no definitive answers:
