do they require a certain job description of the pharmacist to be considered a 1-year working experience as a pharmacist?

like for example being a Project Based Pharmacist editing, proofreading, revising drug handbooks ? --> is this considered legit experience?

You must check if your duties match the NOC duties.

hey thanks for the reply...just a follow up question

they say "at least 1 continuous year of experience"

so if i had a job for 6 months then resigned then look for another job and i stayed there for 6 months again
would it be considered 1 continuous or invalid???

example timeline : August 2010 - Feb 2011 then by mid feb i resigned...found a new job started at March - August 2011 ?

are there any grace periods so or whatsoever ? thank you in advance :)

ps either full time or the equivalent and must be paid work experience.

can someone elaborate the bold part ? like how can u tell its equivalent ? thanks

I am a UK trained pharmacist and British citizen wishing to emigrate to Canada. I just came back from Toronto on holiday and I absolutely love the place!!! I was going to apply for permanent residence under the Federal Skilled Worker programme but I found that the cap for pharmacists this year 2011 had already been reached. I am waiting for the new list to come out in July 2011.

I am in the process of gathering all my documents together if pharmacy should be on the list again. I have been on the UK register since 2004.I have worked in the pharmaceutical industry for four years, after that I locumed (self employed pharmacist) for three years. I am now currently a phamacy manager at one of the UK multiples. When it comes to the work experience on the application form , how do I account for the locuming jobs (since I have been working for different pharmacies over the three years) ?

Also when it comes to documents pertaining to self sufficient funds, do I have to submit the evidence with the application or at a later date?

I stayed at my cousin in Canada, who is a Canadian citizen, would that be counted as a close family member for the adaptabilty section?

I am looking forward to your responses.

Your experience must match the lead statement of the NOC, as well as a substantial amount of the duties. CIC don't define what "substantial" means in each case, but it's commonly believed that this must be at least half of the duties.

I have satisfied the criteria of the NOC for pharmacists. What about the other questions I asked about.

Hi. I was answering the original poster, not you. But to answer you questions:

1) Regarding your self-employed period of 3 years, CIC are unlikely to just take your word for it so you may need at least some references for the customers/branches you worked at etc. Did you actually have your own premises / did you work solely for yourself?

However, if you have 4 previous years experience which you can get references for, then this will satisfy both the minimum requirement for 1 year's full-time experience in the NOC, and also the maximum 4 years' worth of employment for the 67-points requirement. Therefore I suggest you just get whatever you can for the 3 year self-employment period. On your forms CIC will ask you in which order you want them to assess the work experience, so I would start with the 4 year period if you can get solid references for that.

2) Proof of funding - this must be sent with the initial application. However, at this stage proof of equity in property can be considered if you submit 3 valuations and a mortgage letter. When it comes to completing your record of landing, at that stage the funds must be in liquid (cash in bank) format and ideally in a readily transferrable currency (CAD, USD, Euro or UK Sterling).

3) No - cousins do not count for adaptability, only those relatives which are on the list in the forms (basically mother/father/sister/brother/grand parents/uncle/aunt etc).

Hello. Thnks for the info. However at the moment I don't own a property at the moment. I am currently renting at the moment.

The company that I worked for in industry don't give references but they might be able to give a letter stating that I worked for them, how long I worked for, salary, etc

Well regarding proof of funding if you have no equity in property then you will need to save up the full settlement funds before applying.

Best of luck.
Wayne.
