Hi folks,

I am a student in Canada with Indian nationality and will be applying for PGWPP in June, 2016. As per my studies, I am eligible for 3 years of PGWPP. However, my passport is expiring on July 29, 2017 and some of friends told me that I can only get my PGWPP up to expiry date of my passport (July 29, 2017).

I also tried to apply for re-issuance of my passport, but the first condition on the webpage states that the remaining validity on passport should be less than 1 year and my case doesn't meet this criteria.

Could anyone please suggest, what should I do in this situation ?

Thanks,
Harveer

You will get a PGWP with a remark to apply for its extension with a valid PP.

Hi. I suggest if you can renew your passport before applying PGWP, if it's convenient with you. I read somewhere in the forum that she only granted a PGWPP based on her passport validity but there are some also who are lucky to be asked to apply for extension. It depends.

Incorrect. Each and every student, whose passport is on the verge of expiry, get a remark on the PGWP to apply for extension.
