I am NOT 100 percent sure of “57-60” credit hours. I strongly believe that a 3 year PGWP is more a matter of credit hours. A four year Undergraduate degree consists of a full 120 credit hours. I am not sure how much credit hours required for a Master level student to get qualify for a 3 year PGWP (I think it depends on course).


I have few facts;

1. My elder sibling did MBA in 15 months with full 57 credit hours (original duration was 18 months) and received a full 3 year PGWP.

My programme will give me 48 credits. so what will be the approximate period of my work permit ? its a two year..four semester .. 16 courses ( each course gives 3 credit hours) program.

I think you should ask how many credit hours required for a 3 years PGWP. I am not sure, but I think it's around 45 Credit Hours for a Master Degree course.

Here we have one very interesting case, a student who actually studied 2 year PG course and ended up with only 1 year of PGWP.

YEAH MAN, IT MEANS i am eligible for 3 years work permit..since i have 4 sems and two years course.

moreover, my credits exceed 45 credits ( i will get 48 credits minimum), so i hope to get 3 years work permit..that was the reason i chose this course of two years at the first place.

So enfield, do you mean that the guy who did a 2 year i.e. 16 months program should've got a 3 year PGWP and it was only an isolated event that he didn't get it because of an error or something?

Can you tell me with 10 courses completed in 1.5 years What length of Post graduate work permit I am eligible for. 1 course is 3 credit hours.

I am doing my Masters from U of T right now. But I will be done with my required amount of courses to graduate in Dec 2011 by which the length of my program will be 1year and 4 months for the fall term. I came here in Sep 2010
1st term Sep-Dec 2010
2nd term Jan-April 2011
3rd Summer I took one course in May and one in august
4th term Sep-Dec 2011 (taking 2 courses right now)

So in total it is 16 months. Would I be eligible to apply under CEC with a 1.5 year Masters Program? I see in their website they say something that you must have studied 2 years of post secondary education from a Canadian educational institution.

Should I take 1 extra semester(take 2 more courses and enroll full time and do 12 courses instead of 10 required) and then apply for the PGWP and finish a 2 year program? so that I get a 3 year work permit which will make it easier for me to get my one year work experience and then apply under CEC.

Do you know if it is easy to get PR through PNP ?? or should I not only rely on PNP Ontario and do a 2 year program to ensure my future stays here ??
