Hi all,
I am wondering if there is any one here experiencing the same situation as me. I have 2 years diploma, and 1 year certificate. I took one after another. However, when I was taking a 2 years diploma, I had a one year gap. CIC gave my work permit for only 1 year. I called and talked to CIC Agent for the reason. I told me to do the extention. CIC again rejected that.

What should I do in this situation so I can get a longer work permit? Any advises? Thank you so much.

I don't think there's anything you can do. You were correctly given a 1 year PGWP. Your studies have to be continuous to qualify for a PGWP. Since you took a 1 year gap during the 2 year diploma, CIC did not give you credit for this education and only gave you a PGWP based on the 1 year certificate.

I honestly had no idea that it would cause this consequence. At the time when I left, i was told by my friends whos also international student that as long as im not in the country, i will be fine. Also, i left a Leave of Absent at school but they did not tell me anything about this. I left the country uncompletely aware of this situation. Do you think i could try to apply again and explain this to cic officer?

You are free to apply again. However according to the rules, you only qualify for a 1 year PGWP.
