Hi everyone

I am about to finish my 2 year program and apply for PGWP.
The problem is that I went home after the first term of my program and stayed there for 4 months. Then i retured to Canada and continued my studies.
Is it a problem for getting PGWP?

Others can comment as usual but I guess it depends on what your college confirms in your graduation certificate given technically taking a 4 month unscheduled break you were out of full time education as required by your study permit. If the college says you completed a 2 year program successfully with no mention of the break then I guess you may be ok but others can comment.

Hi

As you failed to study full-time continuously during your program, it is very possible that your PGWP will be refused.

PGWP apps require a final transcript, which will show the break in OP's studies.

I think there is not problem because you can take a summer break off but after that you have to be enrolled until you program is done.

you can request a letter from school pointing that your program is done and you have not receive the certificate yet because you are waiting for graduation.

I read your question again in my opinion you wont have problem if you complete your program, because you leave Canada during 4 months so the problem could be if you remain in the country without studying.

You have to write a explanation letter in order that they know the reason why you leave Canada in your First term.

Keep going and good look.

OP didn't take a summer break. They took a full term off in the middle of their studies, something far different.

Students must hold full-time status during the academic session prior to, as well as subsequent to, their scheduled break. Each scheduled break should not be more than four months consecutively and students are not eligible to work full-time if the institution allows for back-to-back scheduled breaks. Essentially, taking into account reading breaks and the winter holiday, students may only work off campus on a full-time basis for no longer than five months during each calendar year (e.g., working full-time for four months consecutively during a scheduled break plus full-time during reading breaks that generally do not exceed one week at a time).
