Hi guys just an update they've opened my file again yesterday Mar 20th.
But till now no request for $100 fees no any more actions.
Is this normal?
Hello
I had to reopen a case for a study permit that they mistakenly denied. There was no cost associated with opening the file. That’s all I can give you but if there will be they will let you know. It’s up to them now, good thing is that they are once again reviewing your case

Hello everyone,
My sister applied for pgwp in June 2024 and got a refusal letter on December 12,2024. The reason IRCC gave was that she didn't fufill her study for full time studies which is not true. She only studied part time on her final semester because it was her last 2 courses (6 units) required to complete her course work. the next semester was field work /co-op which was 15 units considered full time. Her study permit expired in July 2024. My question is: Can she reapply for reconsideration so that IRCC can continue processing her application? or she should reapply, if yes, would it be restoration+PGWP application?

Please treat as urgent. Thank you!

If there is a "next semester" after her final semester, that wasn't a final semester.
I think at least that's how IRCC looked at it.

I will let others to comment on the next step.

She actually applied for a CO-Op work permit to do the field work. Her school mentioned if she did the last two courses with the field work that it will be too much

So did her letter say she can restore status? Study permit expires 90 days after program completion, and she must apply for PGWP within 180 days of graduation. So depending on what the letter says she may not be able to restore and reapply. She needs a letter from her school explaining the situation because she can only be part-time for the last semester. Her co-op was the last semester and is considered full time studies, so not eligible for PGWP within her current profile. She can try for reconsideration (may be only option at this point) with letter from school.

She got a refusal more than a month ago so what has she been doing and why wait so long when it may not be possible to reapply at all.

Yes, Her letter said she can restore. IRCC mentioned that her temporary residence expired on December 12, 2024. She also got a letter from her school explaing in details. we just applied for reconsideration today, keeping our fingers crossed for good news.

So you didn’t restore status and reapply? There are no timelines for reconsideration.

We are reapplying this week. we just got her CELPIP tests results. Starting from November 1st 2025, The English Language testing is a requirement. and because it was the holidays in december we couldn't get a test date until January 12, 2025.

She is not working. She stopped working since she got the refusal letter in December.
Hello , I’m actually in same situation with your sister right now .. I have part time after my study completion to take two of my failed courses. Then I took my field placement which was considered full time.
I was told in the rejection letter to apply for restoration. I’m confused and in a really bad place at the moment.

Can you please put me through on how you went about your restoration. I’ll appreciate any support at this trying time . Thank you and wish you luck as well

Are you eligible to reapply for PGWP? Reconsideration? You can only be part-time your last semester and if field placement was last semester then not eligible.

Get a good lawyer but you are without status in Canada so need to restore to visitor or student (if that is even possible).

The restore status wordings is common in ALL refusal. It doesn't mean that you actually can restore back to a student or visitor status.

It's similar to visitor visa refusal, the refusal always said that you can apply again. It doesn't mean that you will get approval in the next application.
