Job Offer........
Pre-Assessed..
After the very first draw by CIC in late January, many of the PGWP holders on this board were saying that they were going to apply for a LMIA. Can you guys please elaborate how the process of application for LMIA is going? What kind of companies are you working for? Were your employers willing to proceed with LMIA for you? Which one did you pick up, the generic LMIA or the PR specific one? So, do you have any luck with LMIA so far?

I'm asking this question cause there seems to be 2 opposite opinions, some say, it's not a big deal, others say it's next to impossible to get a LMIA right now, esprcially if your job falls into NOC B "entry level" position.

I am in the same boat. I have a PGWP which expires June 2016. I don't have PNP and I am not sure if I should go and ask my employer to apply for a LMIA for the job that I already have.

How does my employer go about applying for a LMIA for a position they have already hired me for a year ago?

Also I have heard that it's hard to get a LMIA. I am working as a software developer for a startup in Calgary. My boss is ok with applying for LMIA

Whats is the difference between generic LMIA and PR specific LMIA? Do I have to pay for both of them?

NOC A with almost 2 years experience.

Employers are looking into it but my wage is below median, above low of my NOC (5-6 years experience). Doesn't seem like there's a way around this..

My husband is job code 0711 and got a PR specific LMIA from his company. It took around 5 months from when we requested it from his company til we got it but think this may be due partly to his HR dept dragging their heels. A PR specific LMIA tends to have a short shelf life of 6 months. This means you need to apply for PR before it expires. We submitted our application in December and the LMIA expired at the end of January.

My husbands work permit expires at the end of July so we will probably apply for a bridging permit if we do not receive PR by June.
