PGWP Holder - TRV applied outside of Canada

I’m an international student graduated this past June 2017. After holding a valid study permit and open work permit until June, I applied for a PGWP within the 90 days. This permit was approved in September. Because I hadn’t seen my family in over a year and a half, I decided to come to my home country February 27, Dominican Republic, fully ignorant of the fact that I didn’t hold a Temporary Resident Visa. When I was trying to get onto my flight back, scheduled for March 11, I wasn’t allowed. I applied for a TRV the day after. I currently do work in Toronto, Ontario and I attached a letter from my employer to my application. Under funds for visit I didn’t put that much since I’m currently working and the letter mentions my salary. I’m very nervous about this process since I don’t want to lose my job in Canada. Is there any chance my application could be denied?

Hi,
I am in the same situation as you. Came to visit my family in 2017 and still here but need to return now. My work permit is valid but my trv is expired. Kindly let me know how it goes. I am submitting my application next week. I am also confused about the proof of funds. Please update me. Thank you

Yes it was successful. I got my trv 3 weeks after I applied.
Hey Tonia, did you apply online or paper-based for the TRV; I have a similar situation, the PGWP is approved although the TRV has expired. The online questionnaire is so confusing and limited, it either leaves me to apply for PGWP outside Canada or apply for a normal travel visa without asking my current status which is a worker with the open work permit. Kindly help :)
