Hi,
Background:
I hold a Post Graduate Work Permit and Work Visa till August 2018 and is currently working full-time in Canada. I have still not applied for my permanent residency and is planning to apply in a few months. I got married recently and would like to bring my wife to Canada. She is a citizen of a country that requires a visa to travel to Canada.

Question:
1. Which visa category should I apply for her?
2. Can I get an open work permit for her so that she is able to work when she is in Canada?

Your replies will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Letyrone

It seems to me that you want to bring her to live with you, not to visit. In this case she is not eligible to any kind of TRV.

Yes. Spousal Work Permit.

Hi,
Thanks much for the reply. No I am only planning to bring her here on visit for two weeks. She is working back home and does not plan to work here in Canada.
Once I apply for the permanent residency and get approved for both her and myself then she will move permanently to Canada. In this situation would a TRV application to visit family be sufficient.

Regards

Thanks again for the reply

If that is the case then TRV is fine. Be sure to attach employment letter specifying the dates of her vacation, when she is expected to be back, and time working at the company. Be sure to also icnlude annual salary and all other compensations that help prove she will not "quit" her job once she gets the TRV.

Be extracareful to get a solid application, her ties to Canada are strong and you have to prove she has no reason to overstay.
