PGWP Extension or Bridging Work Permit

Hi everyone!

I am in the middle of processing my TR to PR application and my Work Permit expires Aug 2022 - but can be extended for another year, 3 years total.

How are the processing times for both PGWP Extension or Bridging permit? Which one is smarter to apply for?

Hi,
When you say PGWP extension do you mean that you received less a year on your PGWP because your passport expired?
The TR2PR BOWP only goes until December of this year:

  • For Duration of expected employment, we need to know how long you’d like your permit to be valid.
    • Enter the date you’d like to start working as the Start date.
    • You can ask for an End date that’s no later than December 31, 2022.
      • You can’t ask for a date beyond the expiry date of your passport.
The smart thing to do is extend the PGWP.

Hi there, Yes that's right! They based it on my passport expiration and so technically i still have about 10 months left after Aug 2022 on my PGWP. I am hoping I get a result by end of the month otherwise I have to apply for extension. Apparently it takes about 4 months to process any extension so I'll prbably request it end of April if I don't get a decision from IRCC :)
