Hi Guys, My PGWP will expire on 11th January, 2024. I am going to leave to leave Canada by the end of January...However, I didn't apply for a Visitor record or any Dummy Work Permit extension. Would this be an issue in future as I am staying in Canada without any status for 2 weeks?

Thank you!

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately, My employer will not provide me an LMIA... already asked for it a couple of months back. May i know whether it would be an issue if I stay in canada for a couple of weeks without status?

Not sure what you mean by "an issue in future", but if you are referring to a future PR application - there'll be no impact. But if you are coming back on visitor/work permit, the officer will be able to see your overstay - what they decide is upto them.

Quite similar, my PGWP will expire by the end of March, my current employer will not provide LMIA and I am looking at the option of looking for an LMIA job or applying for a visitor record 30 days before BGWP expires. I believe one can stay in Canada with the visitor record but cannot work.
Was your visitor record later approved?

I won't stay in Canada being a visitor. I am leaving Canada exactly in a couple of weeks...My application is still in progress...I applied to avoid being out of status... I will gain foreign experience, improving my CRS score(500+) and making me eligible for stem draw. LMIA is not an option for me.

Hi Everyone,

I have of couple of questions regarding the change of status. I have a employee who currently holds PGWP which is about to expire next month Nov 2024. He couldn't apply for PR as of yet he will be opting for PNP route which is currently on pause until Jan 2025 here in the province of New Brunswick. He has already applied for his visitors visa it's been more than a month and still waiting on the decision to be made. Will he be considered on implied status until the decision is made meaning can he still legally work for us? And also applying for visitor record within Canada while his PGWP still valid needs to proof any funds? Should he be applying for work permit extension as a dual intent while visitor visa application still under process which will allow him to buy some time to remain in Canada until the work application is processed considering the negative side just is case if his visitor visa doesn't get approved. I would highly appreciate your valuable input on this. Thank you kindly

He will be on implied status but he will not be eligible to continue working once his work permit expires. Since he's applied for a visitor record, that only allows him to remain in Canada on implied status as a visitors. Visitors are not allowed to work.

He doesn't qualify for a work permit extension.
