Hi all,
I am desperately looking for help and information..
I am curently under PGWP and it is coming to an end in June 22 2011. My PR application under fast track is curently under in-process for 8 months and no medicals yet. All I got now is 4 months more and I really doubt that I will get PR by june 2011. So I thinking of applying for work permit and too my profession is one of the under pressure job. My million dollar question is

1. Will I be able to get LMO (Ontario) and work permit within this 4 months?

If not possible

IS there any other way I can legally extend my stay in canada until i get my PR.

Those who have undergone situations like me plz kindly help me.. any response is greatly appreciated...

If your employer wants to keep you, they do have to apply for an LMO, but because you were on a PGWP, they do NOT have to show recruitment efforts.

I don't know what the chances are that they turn you down - you should ask your employer to apply ASAP.

Yes, you can get it all processed (or at least in process) in 4 months.

I am in a similar situation, except my PGWP expires at the end of July 2011. My PR app is now in process at the Buffalo VO with my 2nd AOR received early last month and I'm hoping for Medicals soon, as well.

My employer has already received a positive LMO from Service Canada. The duration of employment shown on this LMO is for 1 year.

I'm wondering about the time frame that I should apply for a temporary work permit. Since my PGWP expires in July and this LMO duration of employment only shows for 1 year, should I wait until March or April to apply?

The LMO is valid for 6 months. You can wait until April.

Just wanted to share my experience, as I had a PM regarding what happened with the LMO process with me.

My employer and immediate supervisor was more than happy to fill out the LMO application for HRSDC after I pointed out that they do not need to prove recruitment efforts since I was in the PGWPP.

For any fields on the LMO application regarding duration of employment, we put something along the lines of "this is a permanent position". And when applicable, we put "N/A due to Post Graduate Work Permit Program".

My employer also used a cover letter with the application just stating the actual situation, ie I'm employed full time with no end date and my PR application is already in process in Buffalo.

The positive LMO I received simply has an expiry date for how long the LMO is valid, which mine is August 1, 2011. But it also states that my employment with my employer is 1 year. From this, I'm assuming any temporary work permit I am given will be valid for one year from the time I apply. I'm hoping to apply mid-to late March.

If anyone else would like to comment or add about a similar situation, please feel free.

Hello, I have another question related to this topic of a temporary work permit after the Post Grad Work Permit Program while PR application is in process.

In the case that I get the temporary work permit after the PGWP.... Is it possible to extend this temporary work permit because the PR application has not been approved yet?

I'm just trying to think ahead in the case that the Buffalo VO takes as long or longer as its reputation says it will.

As of this moment, no, there is nothing official stating that this is possible. I know some have tried, but I don't know if they got it. You would still need to get another LMO and a new work permit... This is something that CIC really needs to change about the program.
