Where did you see eight months study program will get only 8 months work permit? I have many friends here who studied only 8 months and got 1 yr work permit. It depends on the official who is signing on your work permit. I would say 5% guys who got 8 month work permit, rest of the guys got 1 yr work permit.XYZ User said:Hi Guys, CIC website shows :
A work permit under the PGWPP may be issued for the length of the study program, up to a maximum of three years. A post-graduation work permit cannot be valid for longer than the student's study program, and the study program must be a minimum of eight months in length. For example, if you graduate from a four-year degree program, you could be eligible for a three-year work permit if you meet the criteria. If you graduate from an eight-month certificate program, you would be eligible for a work permit that is valid for no more than eight months.
However, I was under a belief if I do a 2 year course, I would get 3 yr work permit.
Does anyone know if its a recent change ?
If you study 8-12 months, you will get 1 yr work permit.
If you study 24 months and more, you will get 3 yr work permit.
1 yr work permit is little bit stress as you have to hurry up your job searching..
3 yr work permit is easy to make right and better decisions and you can change your employer any time.
