Hi, is it even legal for the government to impose new pgwp rules on existing students? They could say that students enrolling from Jan 2025 will be Subjected to the changes but they are imposing them on all students who came 2 years ago based on the fact that they will get pgwp after graduation. What can students do about this? If anybody has anything productive to say then please do. Please dont comment racist stuff

Yes, it is legal. They can change the immigration rules at any time. What has changed for students who have been here for 2 years other than IELTS?

You have asked this question before. The Govt. of Canada and IRCC's mandate is to protect the interests of Canadians and not foreign nationals, so yes, it's perfectly legal.

No even if it's legal it's not ethical. Students should demand refund of their fees who wish not to be a part of this discrimination. When I applied it was clearly stated on the website that as long as I finish my 2 year course I will get pgwp. It's not juts ielts what about Students who are pursuing their course in a field that's not linked to labor shortage what about them? Students should stage a peaceful and protest and demand the fees back should they choose to leave the country because of these changes. The right thing to do is impose these new rules on upcoming Students so they have a chance to decide whether they want to come to canada or not not on those who have finished half of their course and are forced to deal with this bs.

But they are just imposing it on incoming students. Have you even read what it states on the IRCC site. You need IELTS which you should have anyways. The changes you are talking about are people who apply for a study permit after November 1 so nothing has changed for current students. Potential students who have yet to apply will need to meet the new requirements.

The new rules are not being applied to existing students. The only requirement that is being applied to existing students is the language test requirement which should be easy for anyone who has completed their studies in Canada. You need to read the IRCC announcement more carefully vs jumping to incorrect conclusions.

The key word is "may". They always say you may get a PGWP. Regardless, there are 966 field of study on that list still so it's not really as restricted as most people think.
