PGWP application

Need advise please!

I have applied for my study visa extension on 7th February 2020, as my Visa was expiring end of March 2020. My study completed at end of April, but due to current situation, my application for extension got delayed by 6 months now, and i dont need a study permit, as i am eligible for a PGWP.

I sent few web form to IRCC, even called them twice, but they are only saying that my application is under process, nothing else.

So, my question was can apply for PGWP along with my current study permit extension application? And can i work part time? As i heard that some exemption were given by government keeping in mind current situation?

Yes, you can apply for your PGWP but you can't work until it's approved. You need to have stopped working after completing your studies.

Ohk, thanks a lot for the reply! But, one lawyer told me that i can work right after applying PGWP, as my current status is not expired, i have already applied for extension, 2 months prior to my visa expiry date. I wouldn't be able to work right after applying PGWP, if i hadn't applied for study visa extension.

Since your study permit expired in March you are only on implied status as a student, which does not give you implied status as a worker when you apply for a PGWP. You need a valid study permit to begin working immediately.
