PGWP application transferred to Surrey Immigration and it stuck there!

Hello All,
Its been almost 16 months that I have applied my PGWP application, however, My application is still in process. Actually, I couldn't give the biometric as service Canada closed on the day of my appointment (unlucky). Then In the 2nd week of May, I received a letter stating "Your application has been transferred to the Canada Immigration Centre located in Surrey for processing". Ever since I have not seen any update on my application status.

I have raised a few web forms to know the status, however, every time I get the same answer "Thank you for contacting Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada. We verified the information you provided and can confirm that the application is still in process. Due to the ongoing situation related to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), some IRCC offices are currently operating with reduced or critical staff only. We are working on processing applications as quickly as possible; however, processing times are affected and any disruption caused by COVID-19 has not reflected accurately on our website. We will make all the necessary efforts to finalize the application as soon as possible."

After that, I have asked for the GCMS notes where it states the reason: workload re-distribution. Last month I informed my local MP office to inquire about the status as well, however, they did not hear back from IRCC surrey yet.

I do not mind waiting, however, Our MSP coverage has not been extended as of May 2021 as our permit expires before Dec 2020. I had appealed to the director of HIBC, but no luck. Now, I have to buy the visitor insurance for me and my family as there is no option and I do not know how long more we have to wait for our permit to be finalized.
Also, my son CCB has been stopped since Jul 2020, and I am not sure If CRA will issue the backdate payment once we submit our new permit.

Has anyone faced a similar situation? I do not see any other options than waiting for IRCC surrey decision who is working at a snail pace. If anyone has any other suggestion or could recommend me some private insurance company, we would be very grateful.

I think you need to send a letter to your case processing centre .( mentioned Urgent on envelope) .through registered mail .My application for sp extension stuck for 5 months so IRCC call centre agent told me to do this . Explain everything in the letter and the problems that you are facing due to long processing time .Definately they will look at your application after that .

Hi Navnii, Thank you for the reply. Do you mean to direct the letter to local immigration office or CPC where the file was submitted? My file was initially processed by CPC-edmonton and later transferred to surrey office.

I would recommed to send letters to both offices ( CPC edmonton as well as surrey office).Most of the Temporary resident applications they handle over CPC edmonton .If they transferred file to surrey office still they keep the record and definately they will look on your file or they can send msg to surrey office as well . Its better to send letters to both offices .pls attach application number print out .
