Hi, I'm holding a PGWP with expiry date Nov 10, 2023 and eligible for the Opt-In 18-month extension. I have also received the Interim work authorization email allowing me to work until May 2024.

Now, I'd expect the new PGWP would be valid for 18 months from the current expiry date so it'd be May 10, 2025.
And my passport expires on 2028. So I thought I could just simply Opt In.

The issue is I can't see at all the Opt-In option in my GCKey account? I searched the whole account/screen, couldn't find anything... what to do?
I had on old GCKey account and when I tried to log-in, I got a message that it got revoked. So, I had to create new sign-in credentials. however, when I logged-in, couldnt find the Opt-In option?

You should have your earlier PGWP application linked to your GCKey through which you are trying to Opt In.

Many thanks for your reply, however, as i mentioned my earlier PGWP application was submitted since 2021 and since then, I didnt need to use the GCKey. So, that's why they revoked it! What do I need to do now? I got my passport renewed, do you think I should be submitting a visitor visa application to stamp the visa on my new passport, so in this case I would have an application that I can link to my GCKey account?
I am really lost!

Create a new GCKey and link your old PGWP to it. Then check if Opt In option appears. For rest of your queries, I am not the right one to comment, sorry.

Hi everyone,

I am in a similar situation where I got email for work authorization and opt-in as well. I would like to opt-in but unfortunately my passport expires in April 2025, so I can't opt-in now. My PGWP expires this September and I have a PR application in process that I submitted roughly two months back. Now my question is:

1. Can I work here in Canada until May 2024 even after my PGWP expires with just the work authorization without applying for the work permit extension hoping I would get my PR by then.

2. If I cannot work without a work permit after September, do I need to apply for this extension ASAP? I am a bit confused and not sure what to do. Please help. Thank you :)

Thanks for sending the link, I knew this before Sir, and I think I mentioned several times that the problem is not where to find such instructions. I went through the whole GOV website! The problem is I can't find any old applications in my GCKey when I created new login details, after they revoked my previous one. So, I am unable to see any old applications to link it to the account, so I could see the option of "Extension PGWP through Opt-In".
This is my question: What I need to do now!???? my GCKey account is a like any new account, no prior applications are there, hence the extension option doesn't appear to me....
what to do?

Hi - I just submitted a new visitor visa application to get my worker visa stamped on my new passport and I managed to link it to my account. However, I can't see the option of "Extension PGWP through Opt-In"
Kindly advise what to do?!! I am very frustrated with this process and can't see anything logical or realistic so far....

You link an old application to your gckey account so that you can view the details. You will never see an old application simply because it was done in the old account. Hence the need to "link". Otherwise, if you can see an old application, then there is no need to link.

@CNP's link actually enumerates the process on how to link an old application. When you start the link process, just enter the information asked. Usually, they are personal information such as date of birth, passport number, etc.

I had my original gckey revoked and when I created a new gckey, I never encountered any difficulty in linking my old applications. The process is rather straightforward. Just think of your gckey as a bottle, where you are transferring the liquid content from the old to the new. Unless you transfer that liquid, you will never see that in the new bottle.

Okay - Many thanks! I just tried it again and all worked out :) You are the best :)
I hope the extension will be added to my work permit after the current expiry date, which is 10th Nov 2023. and not to calculate how months are remaining from today's date to Nov, then to subtract this from 18 and then add the rest to me as an extension.

My initial calculation shows that: 18 months after the expiry date of my current permit means the new expiry date should be: May 2025

I am afraid that they will calculate it this way: we are in May which means there are 6 months validity in my work permit, then 6-18 = 12, so the expiry date would be: May 2024! :( :( :(

Let's see.....

I am not sure why are you so confused. You created a new gckey and expect the old applications to appear without linking? Sorry to say, a basic research is missing.
