Hi All,

I want to sponsor my in-laws (2), How i need to count family members. We are four (myself, wife and two kids). The total family size including my in-laws will be Six.

Do I need to choose as family members - 6, and will income should consider as total

Any suggestions, Thank you
Your family size would be 6. Your total household income must be met for 6 people for 3 years
Look at this table for the exact number:

Hi everyone!

I am following this thread and I just have something to clarify. I am planning to sponsor my mom for PGP. My husband will be a co- signer and with the combined income, we do meet the necessary LICO. Now my question is: will it affect our application if my husband sponsored me and my son for PR and undertaking is still in effect for us? Thank you in advance!

Cons?
How do you plan to make the change to your income in 2019? Change it with CRA? Then you should make the application for change right now, as I heard some cases that it would take weeks to complete the change and get the new NOA (with updated income)
Also, you may have to answer questions from CRA as to why the changes. I am sure people from previous years had done it and CRA had learned the trick so it's tough to get through them
And the pros? If all is sucessful, you will be qualified to sponsor

Yes and i thinknj have 5 months because 3 months for for submitting interest and then 2 months when they will ask for further documents if picked up....right ?

For this year, 2020, the online form to submit the interest is only open for 3 WEEKS, e.g. Oct 13 - Nov 3. After it closes, we do not know when IRCC will send the invitation. But in 2018, it was about 45 days. And after you are invited, you will have 60 days... I do not know about the time it may take CRA to issue updated NOA... But I heard the time is just an easy one, the tougher part is to explain why the change if CRA asks. If you can't answer it reasonably, it means you falsify your income to avoid taxes, which is a criminal offence. If you can answer it, you will have to provide proof of your changes such as receipt(s) that match invoice(s); paystub of the company who underpaid you; Financial statement (of a company) or Tax return (of an individual) who underpaid you, etc... lots of data that CRA had collected over the past few years
Worst yet, if you fail to appeal for the changes, in some cases, you may face penalty and charge

1)) Yes you are 100% right but i think what you are saying may happen when there is a gap of 1000 of dollars and i need to increase only 3k to 5k, just a thought...

2)) if i ask you guys st. Forwardly, should I increase my 2019 income because otherwise i will have to wait for next 3 years.....?

It is not just about the total amount of money that matter... It is a false income declaration to avoid tax that you are risking when doing this; And tax invasion is criminal offence in Canada, this you may know. Imagine, hundres of people having the same situation like you (missing few hundreds dollars income), if they are all get approved, what's it gonna be for the PGP program in the future?
So, it's your calls

Hello ,
Can anyone please inform if they are any disadvantages of keeping a parent as non accompanying. Especially in future if they want to apply for visitor's visa?
I am aware the income requirements should satisfy the non accompanying spouse as well.

Thank you!

Hi,

I intend to apply to sponsor my mother who is still legally married to my father. However, they have been separated for over 10 year and live in different countries. They do not have any legal document to show that they are separated. Would I still need to include my father as a dependent of my mother even though they are not together and live in different countries for over 10 years?

Your feedback is appreciated.

Thanks

Its back now, IRCC has announced it: This is just in

How much income do I need to sponsor my parents and grandparents?
You, the sponsor (and your co-signer, if you have one) must prove you have enough income to support all the people you’ll be financially responsible for once you become a sponsor. This includes yourself.
If you’re invited to apply, you have to provide proof that you meet the income requirements for each of the 3 tax years before the date you apply.
We can’t assess whether you meet the income requirements until you apply (if you’re invited).
Note: Because the program has opened later than usual this year, sponsors will be invited to apply near the end of the year so we expect to get applications in early 2021 (likely January and February). Because of this, we’ll assess sponsors on their income for tax years 2020, 2019 and 2018.
We know you may not get your 2020 Notice of Assessment (NOA) until after you apply. So, for the 2020 process, we’ll accept your application if you include your 2019 and 2018 NOAs along with it, and submit your 2020 NOA as soon as it’s available.
This table applies to you if you live in any province except Quebec. If you live in Quebec, the Quebec ministry in charge of immigration will assess your income.
Income required for the 3 tax years right before the day you apply (sponsors applying in 2021)
Total number of people you’ll be responsible for2020Footnote12019Footnote12018Footnote1
2 people$32,899$41,007$40,379
3 people$40,445$50,414$49,641
4 people$49,106$61,209$60,271
5 people$55,695$69,42368,358
6 people$62,814$78,296$77,095
7 people$69,935$87,172$85,835
If more than 7 people, for each additional person, add:$7,121$8,876$8,740
Since many sponsors may have been affected financially by the COVID-19 pandemic, the income requirement for the 2020 tax year have been reduced to the minimum necessary income, instead of the minimum necessary income plus 30%.
Note: This does not affect the income requirements for the 2019 and 2018 tax years.
Footnote
Footnote 1
To prove you meet the income requirements, you must include your Notice of Assessment from the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) for the last 3 tax years before you apply (2020, 2019 and 2018). The easiest way to prove your income is to give us permission to get your Notices of Assessment directly from the CRA.

Is 30% for 2018 and 2019 is top of the amount shown in income table?
Also, If someone got married in Nov 2018 back home and spouse joined him/her in June 2019, will he/she still be counted in family size for 2018?

Is 30% for 2018 and 2019 is on top of the amount shown in income table or is it included in the table?

Hi,
Somone completed landing in end Nov. 2018, went back to USA after a few weeks of stay in Canada and then came to stay in Canada permanently in end March 2019 and is staying here since then and employed. She has following queries:
1. Can she file tax return online now for zero Canadian income for 2018?
2. Can she include her USA income for 2018 in it?
3. If the reply to question No. 1 is yes, can she immediately (say within a day) down load NOA for 2018 under "Express NOA" option?
4. If NOA is not available then can she download someother proof from CRA that will be acceptable to IRCC?
Appreciate all answers.
