Anyone guess when there will be updates to the PGP 2020? Probably in the early January 2020 heh?
Last year, the race start at the end of January I remembered...

Maybe. After the lawsuits of last year, it wouldn't be surprising to see it delayed beyond January.

Maybe time for everyone to chill before this entire thread gets flagged to the moderators and deleted. Maybe best to keep discussions to the actual PGP process for 2020. Just a thought.

on a note related to this topic, is there any pre work that we can do ahead of time until we figure out what the sponsorship will be? Last year was first come first serve? So is the application available ahead of time? And its just a matter of who submits it first on that day?

Given the lawsuits, I seriously doubt they will do the online FIFO system again. There really isn't much to do ahead of time, especially without an estimated timeline of when the program will even open. You don't want to start getting docs ready and the program ends up significantly delayed and docs are out of date.

Sorry I haven't read up on this topic as I was not planning on inviting my inlaws until as of a few weeks ago. What were the lawsuits based on?
And I take it just like super visa I will be able to co sign and meet the income requirement for my wife?

Yes, you can co-sign to sponsor your in-laws.

I am glad that we are back into the PGP business!!!

Have a Merry Xmas/Happy Holidays!

I doubt there will be much "work" done during the next 2 weeks.

Hopefully CIC comes up with a wonderfully well thought out program that has both elements of merit and fairness in how the spots for PGP are given out.

No one knows, what's the process going to be in 2020. There will be a huge change. This PGP maybe only for Parents, dependants excluded. Minimum income requirement might be raised. Etc. Etc.....These are all assumptions. So, wait till they announce on the program.

Yes - I should have explained more clearly. There are certainly other options - but I don't believe any that IRCC will consider. They will never go back to the time where there was no cap on applications since processing times rose to 10+ years. From an ease of administration perspective, FIFO or the lottery are the two realistic options. I don't think there is any chance IRCC will ever consider something more complex like a points system. Of course just because the FIFO and lottery processes didn't work before doesn't mean they are bad ideas. IRCC just managed them poorly. That's where there's an opportunity to improve.

Anyway - guess we'll see what's been decided soon. My vote is lottery. As bad as the lottery was - FIFO was worse IMO.
Highly doubt it they will go back to lottery. IRCC will not repeat the past mistakes again and again.

Every system has been a mistake, depending on who you talk to. There were no lawsuits with the lottery, so it's definitely a possibility.
