Hi All,

I have applied for Conestoga College Information Technology Business Analysis Operations through IDP. Is PG Diploma worth it? I am seeing a lot of conflicting views in various blogs.

Some of my background information:
10th - 81%
12th - 84%
BE Comp Sci (2011) - 73% ( No Backlogs )
Worked in a Canadian based MNC for 4 years in IT
IELTS - 7.5 (L-8.5, S-7.5, W-7, R-7.5) Jan 2016
TOEFL iBT - 100 appeared on Aug 2014

Can anyone please share your experience and views on doing PG Diploma in Canada? I'm really confused. Any help will be much appreciated. Thank you!

since u have experience PG diploma is worthless in my opinion. it will not qualify u for the right jobs. its like u will be way over qualified for the jobs u will have to apply. Also masters is better for PR under express entry.
pg courses r mostly for avg/below avg students who wont be able to cope with masters and who have no work experience. since u have 73% i feel masters is better

How about post secondary diploma courses? Is it worth to pursue diploma in technical courses?

all diplomas pg , pS are worthless if u have experience and if u have good gpa as compared to masters. if ur good at studies then never go for crappy courses. its just my opinion. the thing is u will at some point have to do masters to further ur career or else u will get stagnant or waste too many years doing the same over qualified job. if i had done diploma i would be a entry level engineer/analyst and would have to wait for 5-6 years or more to become a manager but now with masters and past experience I directly got a job of a manager. my past xp coupled with masters opens a lot of doors. again u have to be good at studies to complete masters .

Masters is a better option in most cases.
e.g. You will be actually improving your education level (from bachelors to masters) - this affects payscales in some jobs (not all). Also, if you eventually decide to apply for Canadian PR - having a Masters will definitely be a plus. Many provinces even have programs to integrate international students with Masters degrees.
I have heard that MSS program http://www.icics.ubc.ca/mss/ at UBC is pretty good (you need to have work ex to get accepted though).
Hope this helps!
