As the title suggests what are your thoughts in creating a petition to submit to the federal gov to end the strike? Im not sure how many :) are required but trying to achieve that number would not hurt. Not sure if this is possible, just a thought :)

It can't hurt, I wouldn't expect the current federal government to pay it much heed, but get a little air under it's wings and get it a bit of publicity, and have at it. I would sign it.

Make one and I'll gladly sign. However, don't hold your breath on it making much of a difference.

The newsmedia doesn't seem to have much interest in covering this strike. After writing dozens of politicians (including my own MP), and having two letters I sent published in the globe and mail and national post, it gives me a nice feeling that I've done something on my part. However, my case, along with yours and several thousands of others are still waiting in backlog and regular Canadians don't seem to mind at all!

I think it's a matter of lost tourism and tuition money to really add up before the cons will finally cave in. That time, would be late October I'd imagine!

sure buddy, I will sign it.

I dont think I can create one, as I don't know the rules behind it. But I would be glad do some research and someone else can help with the wording?
As for regular Canadians not caring, they are in the shadow, majority don't know this is happening and even if they do they don't know its implications and impact on the economy.

I am sure if you put it on REGEDIT, it will get over 1 millions signs if you write a good enough story.

I would like to see a little more response for the forum so that I know if its worth spending time creating it.

I'll sign it! I'm sure my husband will too.

Sure, I will sign it as well

I had signed a petition on change.org- "Canadian and Immigration Canada: Process Family Class Permanent Residency applications in a timely manner."

We could probably see if we could start a petition on that itself to end this strike or alteast give importnace to family class as well as students and vist visas.

You can put forth the effort if you want, but I can assure you it's not going to make an impact.

People are striking for a reason, and although it inconvenience us I doubt they're going to end the strike just because of a petition we sign. It's likely that when the circumstances for the CIC employes improve the application process will improve for us.
