I'm at wits end trying to fill the personal history and need some expert advice from you Smiley

(PS: This is not the complete history since 18 but just to get an idea)

Nov-2011 to Present : Working as Consultant Worker

May-2011 to Oct-2011: Worked as retail sales person Worker

March-2010 to April-2011: Worked as retail sales person Student

Jan-2009 to August-2009: Worked as software developer Co-op student

Jan-2008 to June-2011 Studying student

1. You can already see that I have mentioned my role as retail sales person TWICE. The status was however different if you take a close look at it and the reason was I was doing it as part time job with off campus work permit and then I became full time with my post graduate work permit. So does it make sense to mention it twice?

2. I'm really concerned about the order in which I've laid out this history because some of these activities were happening at the same time and I went for co-op and stuff.I would like to get some input from you whether it looks okay to you (and you dont see any gaps?). A fresh set of eyes is always helpful.

I see it OK.

One thing that has worked for me is to overexplain. That is, if you don't know if it is best to give too much or too little information, then go for the too much.

We all have doubts on how to write your history in these kind of forms. So as long as all you write is correct and as clear as possible you should be fine.

For me you have to write even ur vacation and travel too. I asked about this from CIC officer. he said it will help to keep our time track. and i saw you put "Worked as retail sales person Student" It seems bit odd. if u work mention work. if you study mention it. if you stay without doing nothing ;) you have to put unemployed. if you make clear on background declaration question 8. it will be easy to them assess and fast.

@ Miranja and all others: Yeah, that was one of my initial confusions. So please tell me what should I mention in the field "Status in the country" when I was doing all these part time jobs while studying

or how did you guys state that status for part time jobs when you were studying full time? Did you say "Student" or "Worker"? or Should I say "Student(OCWP)" and Worker(PGWP)? Just remember "Studying" was my main activity and all this part time/co-op jobs sub-activities within that time frame.

if you are holding study permit, your status should be Study permit holder. but if you did part time work while you study (you should have valid authority to do the part time) mention on "activity" YOUR JOB (PART TIME WORKER). then on status in the country you have to fill study permit holder for study column, and if you had valid work permit while you working put work permit holder for you job column. but if you did part time job without valid authority, I propose not to mention them at all. just mention whatever you do with valid authority. keep behind others. after all you can attach a letter explain everything. it will help them to understand
