Personal appearance in New york consulate. Is it possible?

Hi seniors,
Can someone let me know if personal appearance (same day passport service) is possible in New York (downtown) consulate and that I can get my PR visa stamped on the same day?

Our office does not offer walk-in service for the issuance of permanent resident visas. In order to have your permanent resident visa issued, please follow the instructions that have been previously sent to you.

From what I just read they still do offer it, they don't offer it for non-immigrant services.
This is the quote from the alert
If you applied for permanent residence in Canada and you have received a notification from our office, the Case Processing Pilot Office in Ottawa or the Canadian Consulate General in Buffalo requesting you to submit your passport(s) to our office you may do so in person on Tuesdays and Thursdays between 8:30 – 11:00 am. Your passport(s) may be returned to you the same day. You must bring the notification with you.

I agree with your friend but, my friend who got his PPR this week sent Detroit Office an email to come personally, and they reply back and said that's fine. So it would be better, if you send them an email and take confirmation before you go there. And also, don't forget to take the print out of that confirmation, cuz the security won't let you in until they see the confirmation.
