Job Offer........
Pre-Assessed..
Same automation issue and no shortage of CPAs. Would personally target areas of the country where there is a skills shortage and avoid large centres to at least get initial experience in Canada. Tough to get a job in your field even as a young Canadian with a Canadian education especially in larger centres where there is tons of competition. Also not great timing since economy is not doing great and government is going to need it downsize. Regularly tell people to apply for jobs across Canada and move based on the best opportunities and not focus too much on the location. Many will find their qualify of life will be better outside the large urban centres.

So, based on your idea, there's a chance that the wife landed a job very far away (or another province) from the husband's home in Canada. Wouldn't it better off if wife continue to work in home country instead?

Hi, I came across this thread and was looking for similar advice. My wife will be coming to Canada soon on PR. She has a Master of Commerce and WES has certified it to be equivalent to a Canadian Bachelor of Commerce. I was wondering what options she has for careers and if she wants to target the CPA how can she go about doing that. Any advice would be helpful.
Well if she take a look at the CPA web site. The big step to certify as CPA would be to complete the 30 months of relevant accounting experience.
So she will need to find relevant job.
  1. Get your undergraduate degree from a recognized university in Canada.
  2. Enroll in the CPA Professional Education Program (PEP).
  3. Complete 30 months of relevant accounting experience.
  4. Finish four education modules during full-time work experience.
  5. Pass the 3-day Uniform Evaluation (UE) exam to test your accounting knowledge and competency12.

Have you had any tips given to you? I still feel lost at times.

The links are above. If you want more specific advice, you might look at forums or sites specific to accounting designations/working in accounting in Canada/CPA, etc. Possibly reddit. Not saying there will be no-one here that's dealt with it, but people tend to come here specifically about immigration issues and then drop off when they've become PRs. Whereas immigrants are fairly heavily represented in the accounting industry, so no shortage of people dealing with how to become CPAs.
