Hi, I am an Italian citizen, currently, on a tourist visa in Ontario, Canada with the passport stamp to leave on September 17th. I received the letter to receive my permanent residency card. In the letter, it says that it's possible to do the landing virtually, only if you stay three months at least. I and my wife also sent a request for an extension of my tourist visa without receiving any answer, so I'm afraid I will have to travel back to Italy soon.
Do you think we should still go for the virtual landing or It's just better I travel to Italy and do it through the Italian offices?
Thank you very much.

You have implied status. There is absolutely no need to leave Canada. Go for virtual landing.

Thank you for your answer. But does the "implied status" only applied for inland sponsorship in case one has temporary residence? In my case, I'm a foreigner visiting my wife, and we got the Permanent Residence Visa Request Letter after we applied for outland sponsorship, so I don't know.

Implied status isn't limited to inland applications.

You applied to extend your stay in Canada as a tourist, correct? If so, you'll have implied status after September 17th.

oh, thank you so much! Didn't know it. In such a case until when would I have implied status? Until we receive an answer about the visitor extension? Also wondering we asked for an extension until November, what would happen if they don't answer at all or way later?

Yes, you have implied status until you receive a decision. It doesn't matter how long the extension takes to process. You have implied status while you are waiting.

I don't think you should be worried about November. You'll most likely have landed by then and the extension will be moot.

IMO you are way over-thinking this. It sounds like you have plans to remain in Canada for at least three months after you become a PR. If that's the case, there is nothing preventing you from moving forward with the virtual landing.

I received a message from the italian office responsible of the virtual landing
"Dear Sir/Madam,

You can land virtually only if you and all the accompanying dependents on your application are currently in Canada and plan to be in Canada for at least three months.

For the Canada Visa Application Centre in Italy please see the instructions at the following"

I have no further advice to add to what I've already said previously.
