Do you meet the requirements to renew your PR card?

No I didn't meet them by far long time.
Define long time? How much time have you spent in Canada in the last 5 years?

Most likely the US border is going to be the better option based on what you've written so far.

If this "long time" is like a majority of the 5-year period, crossing at the land border probably will translate into a 44(1) report. But maybe the OP may qualify for a H&C based PRTD? Regardless very tricky situation indeed.

Thank you , indeed it is very tricky since I spent about 3 months separated during the last five years , and my last stay was on last September 2020 , a year ago . My PR expired on late Jan 2021.
I am afraid to submit PRTD on Humanitarian and Compassionate grounds and also would have risks coming through the borders. I consulted some lawyers who confused me even more. Regardless a decision has to be made and I have to deal with consequences.

Do you have a US visa?
