Permanent resident question

Hi

I am not sure which program is better for me to apply: skills immigration or express entry.

I am currently in Vancouver B.C. with my wife (she is a student with study permit) and I have working visa related to her study permit. We would like to apply for a Permanent Resident. I am currently employed as a carpenter and have another 4-5 years of experience back in Europe. Don't have any certificate or diploma for a carpenter. Would like to ask which program will be better to apply for and approximately how long does it take.

As a carpenter you may apply via the EE via FSTC, this is probably your best bet - http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/tools/perm/econ/fst/processing/criteria.asp

Note that for this you either need to have a certificate or have a job offer (more information on the link above).

You may want to look at specific BC PNP for FSTC as well.
