In case, you have a degree in physiotherapy from a recognized university, have supervised a few sessions of practical training along with completion of Physiotherapy National Exam, regulated by the Physiotherapy Regulatory Boards, you stand good chances of qualifying under the occupation of “Physiotherapists,” listed in National Occupation Classification (NOC) List. A registration or license from a reputed regulatory body is also required to complete your education requirements for this occupation.

However, merely satisfying the educational requirements are not enough. As a physiotherapist, you must be able to assess patients, plan and execute their treatments based on your experience and knowledge for their specific illness. This should further ensure maintenance, improvement or restoring of physical functioning, alleviation of pain and prevention of any physical dysfunction occurring in patients.

It would thereby be of great help to you to see if you could perform the chief duties of a physiotherapist, as given below, and see for yourself if you qualify to apply for Canada visa under this NOC List occupation:

Assessment of physical disabilities of people with the help of evaluation procedures, like functional ability tests
Setting treatment goals for patients and communicating them to patients, on the basis of your physical diagnosis
Planning and execution of physiotherapy programs that includes manipulations, therapeutic exercise, education, massage, electro-therapeutic use and several other hydro-therapy and mechanical equipment
Evaluation of the success of treatment programs or plans and make modifications accordingly
Interact with the various health care professionals and the physician who has referred the patient to have in-depth knowledge and history about the progress, problems and needs of the patient
Maintaining statistical and clinical records
Development and implementation of healthcare programs for the general benefit of the staff, patients and community at large
May have to be a part of some physiotherapy research
May offer consulting or education services
You may even choose your field of further specialization in clinical areas of physiotherapy, like rheumatology, obstetrics, neurology, geriatrics, oncology, orthopedics, pediatrics and many others.
Physiotherapists can look for employment opportunities in sports organizations, clinics, hospitals, extended care providers, rehabilitation centres and may even practice privately. Job titles that are included under this NOC List occupation are: physiotherapist, physiotherapist specialist, research physiotherapist, registered physiotherapist and many others.

Hi bsenthilkumarpt,

I wonder how you were able to open a clinic in your own name without being a permanent resident? I am also a PT and plan on doing the same someday.

Anyway, if I were you I will just go ahead and apply. Seeing that you are able to prove without doubt that you are truly a physiotherapist with proper qualificatons then I do not see any reason why you should be rejected. If in any case your previous instances of rejection is brought up, then there is a chance that they will give you the opportunity to explain your situation.

The point is, you have nothing to lose by trying.
