You can apply for a spousal sponsorship with the sponsor being outside of the country only when the sponsor is a Canadian citizen. In this case you need to provide proof that you will relocate back to Canada when you spouse gets their PR. You cannot continue living outside of Canada.

But it doesn't mean you cannot continue to live outside of Canada even after the spouse landed.

That was my question, correct! Can a canadian citizen get a job outside Canada after his or her spouse lands in Canada and move together? And if so, will the time spent outside canada counts as present inside Canada?

The time outside of Canada will count towards PR (but not citizenship).

Did you ever live in Canada with your spouse? Based on your post it sounds like you met your Canadian spouse abroad and got married. In order to receive PR abroad you are supposed to show that you intend to move to Canada once you receive your PR. Did you land quickly then return to living abroad? How long did you spend in Canada. Are you living abroad because of your work of her work?

My wife is the PR , and I am the Canadian Citizen working abroad now. The rule is 2 in 5, but the exception given when PR accompany a Canadian citizen? How accurate is that?
