Permanent Residency v Work Permit

Hi everyone,

Three months ago I began the application process to apply for Permanent Residency in Canada. It now seems that the process is going to take several years. I have to wait four years in a queue before my application form is even picked up !.

I am wondering whether I should apply for a Work Permit whilst I am waiting for the Permanent Residency Visa application to be processed.

Can anybody advise me on this?. What are the disadvantages of coming to Canada on a Work Permit as opposed to a Residence Visa?.

Best Regards

There's no harm in applying for a work permit as it might speed up the processing of your PR application.

However, to get the work permit, you first have to find an employer willing to offer you a job. That is the biggest difficulty.
