Dear All,

I'm a British doctor, have been offered a job in Ontario and a positive LMIA.

How soon after my arrival and commencement of work can i apply for permanent residency?

The reason i'm asking is because I had a chat with some of my colleagues who informed me that i'll need to work for a minimum of one year before i can apply?

Can someone please clarify this for me,

Thanks in advance,

AK

You can apply immediately if you qualify under one of Canada's immigration programs. There is no one year rule.

Based on your previous posts you were not actually trained in the UK. I would make sure you have cleared your licensing requirement with the provincial board or physician and surgeons if you haven't done so already. I have heard many recruiters who have made false promises.
