Hello,

My wife and I are currently in Ontario and would like to start our process to become permanent resident. I realize that we need one year of work experience in Canada to apply for express entry, but I am trying to figure out if there is a better way for us to apply since we are both French speakers.

My situation:

- Age: 25
- Language: French (native) and English (fluent)
- Time spent in canada: 6 years (5 years studying)
- Education: Computer Science Degree from the University of British Columbia
- Status: 3 years Open work permit (post graduate work permit) have been working for 5 months now
- Currently living in Toronto, Ontario
- Passport: Tunisian

My wife:

- Age: 25
- Language: French (native) and English (fluent)
- Time spent in canada: 6 months (as a visitor)
- Education: Medical degree from Europe
- Status: received a 6 months visitor extension, and applied for a open work permit in November
- Currently living in Toronto, Ontario
- Passport: French

additional information about my wife: she is taking the exam for the medical degree equivalence, has internship lined up, and is looking to start her medical residency next year

you must complete at least 1 year experience in Noc 0 , A or B type of occupation , French speaking with fluent English can help you to get nomination from Ontario ,see
http://www.ontarioimmigration.ca/en/pnp/OI_PNP_EE_FRENCH.html

for details

once you get nomination , you can proceed for PR application

you can start from now to collect required documents , as you will need to go through language exams for example ...

You should complete one year of your work in O,A,B category. If you are working as a programmer, consultant or developer etc you would be fine in meeting the requirements. You will get a higher score since you can apply for both english and french exams.

Good Luck,

Thank you :) I am working as a project manager for a software company.

Taking bot exams would be pretty expensive tho... the french one cost double for some reason... :(

What do you think about my wife?

Should she work as a researcher (is that even 0, A or B?) for a year then apply for PR? (she is not allowed to work as a doctor before having the PR)

Or should I add her to my application in 7 months?

I'm not sure if a researcher falls under any category. You can check the list first. adding her to your application with good language test results will give you a lot more points which will improve your chances to get ITA
