Hi,

My Permanent Residence Visa (PRV) is about to be issued in London.

1. Do I have one year, from the date of my medical, to land in Canada?

I am aware that once the 5 year time limit starts I have to reside in Canada for 2 of these 5 years to keep the PRV valid

2. Is it from the date I land in Canada that the 5 year time limit starts or

3. Is it from the date of the visa issue that the 5 year time limit starts or

4. Is it from the date of the medical that the 5 year time limit starts

I just want to be sure when the clock starts ticking so I can better plan when I need to take up residence.

Thank you to anyone who can offer advice.

David, Newcastle, England.

i believe the five year period starts when you land in canada for the first time to activate your PR.

The visa is usually valid a year from your medicals but it will say on the visa.

The clock for 5 years starts ticking on the day you land as a PR.

Totally agree with Leon:
12mths from medical date for PRV validity while the 5yrs mark starts from landing date.
All the best
