If I was on EI/Leave of absence due to maternity leave for a few months during my 5 year eligibility period, do I include it as a period of unemployment or not? Please note that I was actively employed at my workplace, I wasn't just going to work.

Hi,

Since it was a leave of absence for maternity and you were still holding the employment it should NOT be included as unemployment in the eligibility period calculation.

You can include a note of explanation for this along with the eligibility calculator in your application package.
