Pending Visitors Visa and Pending Permanent Residency Application - Issue?

I have been in Canada for 7 years now (5 on a study permit and 2 on a work permit). My work permit expired September 17, 2016 and I was basically forced to restore my status as a visitor in Canada until I could figure out what to do with my life (leave and go back to my home country or be a visitor). I applied for the restoration of status on December 13, 2016.

One week after me applying for my restoration of status as a visitor I received an ITA for Permanent Residency. I've been waiting on an invitation for ~2 years now and got working on it immediately. I submitted my application for PR last week friday (January 13, 2017).

Considering that I submitted my restoration of status application without me even knowing that I would get an ITA before it got confirmed/deined, does anyone know if there would be an issue or a problem that I have both those application in and pending? Should I call CIC and let them know that I have an application in for a visitors visa and also an application in for PR? I'm worried that this may look sketchy or shaddy to them.

Any thoughts?

Hi.

I had the same problem: my status as a visitor would expire, so I applied for an extension.
My PR application (via Express Entry) was still pending at that time.

Once my PR application got approved, I withdrew my application for visitor extension. This was no problem.

However, the one thing I don't fully understand: what did you do between september and december? If you did not have valid status at that time, that may cause problems.

Hi you got your PR after how long? I am also in the same boat. I have a visitor record at the moment due to expire in April. My AOR is in Jan 14th. I was debating on whether to apply for an extension in April (I am not sure if they really issue extensions). Do you think if i wont have my PPR by April an extension is possible and what did you indicate as reason for extension? Please advise.

Thank you

Hi.

I received my PR after six months and two days (Express Entry CEC Outland).
My visitor status would expire on January 7th 2017, so I applied for a Visitor Extension on Dec 6th 2016(you have to apply 30 days before your status expires).

I had a vacation planned to Holland on January 29th 2017, so I told them that I wanted to extend my visitor status by 3 weeks. I included my (already purchased) airplane ticket with my application. I was well aware at that time, that there would be a good chance that my PR would be approved in the mean time, but I wanted to show CIC I am doing the right thing and wanted to make sure I kept my status.

If you received your AOR this January, you should definitely renew your status, since you most likely won't hear anything until June / July. You have implied status while your application is being processed. Be honest with them and tell them you want to remain in Canada until you receive your PR. Make sure you include proof of funds.

The processing time for a paper application is 40 days at the moment.
If you are lucky and receive news about your PR before April, you can always withdraw your application and CIC will refund your fees.

Good luck!

Thank you so much for this. I was not too sure if they do provide extensions for visitors especially knowing that my intention is not to become a visitor but to await my PR. I hope when the time comes It will be approved. waiting is pain :p

Just please note that I don't know if my extension would have been approved..... since I withdrew it before they started processing my application for a visitor extension (because I became PR in the mean time).
Just sharing my experience and what I have done in that same scenario.
