PCC Rejection

Hoping someone will have an answer. I applied for PR with just as my country of residence PCC (France).

I had previously spent 170 days in China (Hong Kong SAR), 52 days in China (Macau SAR) and 30 days in China.

Now it was my understanding as I have not spent <6 months in each territory i would not require a PCC, however I was rejected for not having a PCC for China from the 1st date I entered Hong Kong to the last day i left China. I feel this is a mistake, as according to CIC you need to apply separately for PCCs from HK, Macao and the mainland.

I think I probably made a mistake selecting China (Hong Kong SAR) as opposed to just Hong Kong in my travel history but still don't believe rejection is justified.

Any suggestions on next steps?

Hi!
Sorry to hear about the rejection.
You can appeal against it but it will take months to get something out of that.

I would suggest that you apply again (drop back to the EE pool and secure a new ITA) with a PCC from China.
This way, your application will be processed much faster.

Hello, even if cic requires separate pcc for HK and Macao, you have to notice that both HK and Macao are part of China. As long as your total number of days are over 6 months in China territory, you need to get pcc. In your case, it's best you get 3 pcc in China to avoid rejection. You can ask a consultant about the details.

Sorry about your rejection. Its always best to get the PCC as soon as you hit more than 30days in any country. There are cases in which CIC never asked for PCC from places where people spent 5months but asked from people who spent 2months in a particular country. We can never be sure with how certain policies work. I would suggest you to get your Macau, HK and China PCCs at the earliest. Good luck.
